The Green Building Initiative is creating a personnel credentialing program to support national adoption and growth of the Green Globes® system for commercial buildings in the United States. There will be 3 different Green Globes® Personnel Credentials offered by the GBI. Each Green Globes® credential has a role, specific function and area of involvement within the total process for obtaining a formal Green Globes® rating and certification for a building.
Green Globes Assessors - highly experienced industry professionals, who complete extensive training and testing and are authorized and individually assigned by the GBI to perform on-site, third-party building assessments that can lead to the award of an official one through four Green Globes building rating/certification.
Green Globes Professionals – individuals, who receive training at the Green Globes user level who are qualified to complete online evaluations, offer project management and technical support to clients undergoing the building assessment and certification process.

The green building movement is experiencing a fundamental shift in the way it approaches sustainable design. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), is used to assess building materials from extraction and processing through manufacturing, transportation, use, maintenance and disposal or recycling taking into account energy use, air pollution, global waste and global warming potential to provide a common basis to compare designs.
Armed with LCA analysis, design and construction professionals are able to make informed, scientifically-based choices that result in better buildings.
