The Green Building Council serves to provide education and information on green building to HBA members. The council will provide quarterly seminars and has an active green building verification program. The verification program is called the GBI-St. Louis Program. The verification process for the GBI-St. Louis Program is handled through Laclede Gas, the third-party verifier, and the homes are verified for compliance with the NAHB Model Green Building Guidelines. In order to apply for verification through the GBI-St. Louis Program, the builder must be a member of the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri (HBA) Green Building Council.
