GREEN BUILDING INITIATIVE™ BOARD MEMBER RECEIVES PASSIVE PIONEER AWARD FROM THE AMERICAN SOLAR ENERGY SOCIETY
Washington, DC (July 24, 2007) — Last week, Dr. Harvey Bryan, a member of the Green Building Initiative's Board of Directors and a professor in the School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture and School of Sustainability at Arizona State University, was presented with the Passive Pioneer Award by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).
Established in 1979 by ASES to recognize men and women who have opened doors to new ideas with their foresight, innovative thinking, and creativity within the passive solar field, the Passive Pioneer award has been granted to esteemed individuals such as internationally-renowned architect and author Malcolm Wells, Professor Ralph Knowles and Founder of Architecture 2030 Edward Mazria. The winner is chosen annually by the ASES Solar Building Committee.
"We are pleased to see Dr. Bryan's tremendous work recognized by an organization such as the American Solar Energy Society," said Ward Hubbell, GBI President. "We join his friends and colleagues in congratulating him on this well-deserved achievement."
Dr. Bryan has served on the design faculties of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University. His research has received support from numerous public and private sponsors and he has authored more than 90 papers and articles on the interface between technology and the design of ecologically-responsible environments.
