Model Home Designed to Educate Builders and Consumers about Affordable Green Building
The HBA of Greater Little Rock’s first GREEN BUILT® model home will be built to the ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard. Its main goal is to educate members and the public on the affordability and ease of green building.
Among its ‘green’ features, the home will include a cool roof, radiant barrier sheathing, a tankless water heater, ladder blocking, 24” on center framing and 2-stud corner framing (which maximize efficiencies), insulated headers, a sealed crawl space with dehumidifier, ENERGY STAR® windows with a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of less than 0.3, and ENERGY STAR appliances.
The home is being built under the supervision of several Certified Green Professionals and has a tentative completion date of May 2010.
