Stanford University Students Complete Analysis of Green Globes™

Building on last year’s experience with students at the University of California-Berkeley, GBI recently solicited feedback on the Green Globes system from students at Stanford University.

“The response overall was positive and productive,” said Vicki Worden, head of commercial programs for GBI. “We continue to be impressed with the technical sophistication of our student users, who have provided both detailed analysis and suggestions for improvements to the interface.”

Comments, which were provided to GBI in an aggregated and anonymous document, included the following:

“Green Globes is very comprehensive. It covers a very wide scope with its questions and looks at a variety of issues that go into making a building green—from design process, to mechanics, to purchasing, etc…For improvement, it could have more options in certain rated items so that more special cases can be considered.”

“Green Globes is highly streamlined. The online interface is quick and easy and you have an exact understanding of how far along you are in the completion process and what’s left to fill out, and what sections you want to come back to.”

“…The questions force you to look at your system from both a holistic and highly specific point of view. For example, it places value on having an integrated design process, but it also wants to know more about the specific capabilities of your mechanical systems etc.”

Through GBI’s university outreach program, professors are invited to use Green Globes in a classroom setting free of charge, and students who become affiliates of GBI can use it for up to three projects, with the option of more on request.
