Green Globes™ Assessor Personnel Certification Program a Green Building First

In a move that raises the bar for all green building rating systems, the Green Building Initiative has partnered with CSA America to create the industry’s first independent certification program for third-party verifiers.

“Independent assessment of Green Globes ratings, including site inspection, is already an important part of the process,” said Ward Hubbell, executive director of the GBI.  “But our work to establish Green Globes as an ANSI standard has made us very conscious of the different areas that can impact the tool’s integrity.  As more people seek Green Globes ratings and more verifiers are involved, this program will ensure that we continue to deliver assessments that reflect the expert knowledge, quality and consistency expected for all GBI programs.”

As a first step, CSA America is working with GBI to form an Assessor Certification Committee, which will be responsible for identifying certification pre-requisites and core competencies, conducting a job/task analysis and defining the scope and purpose of the program.

A non-profit organization, CSA America provides a wide range of services that enhance public safety and health, advance quality of life, help to preserve the environment, and facilitate trade.  The organization’s personnel certification programs provide for the consistent assessment of an individual’s competence in the performance of a job-related task.

The Green Globes Assessor Certification Program will be based on ISO 17024 General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification Systems of Persons.
