Activities

The Green Building Initiative works with design and building practitioners to facilitate understanding and acceptance of sensible green building practices. Specifically, our mandate is to accelerate the adoption of recognized green building practices among mainstream builders by:

• Supporting Home Builder Associations in their efforts to develop local green building programs based on the National Association of Home Builders' Model Green Home Building Guidelines.
• Promoting and facilitating use of the Green Globes environmental assessment and rating system for commercial structures.
• Establishing Green Globes as an American National Standard by taking the protocol through the ANSI-approved consensus process to ensure that it continues to reflect the best science and practices in green building.
• Providing web-based resources including case studies, consumer data, marketing information and online technical support.
• Hosting educational seminars covering a variety of green building topics.
• Participating in green building trade shows.
• Educating the public through advertising, article placement and other forms of media outreach.
